Thank you very much parents and guardians for your participation in Parent Teacher Conferences.  We had over 80% participation.  Teachers, para-educators and related services throuroughly enjoyed meeting with you to celebrate your student!

Thank you also to those that participated in the Educator of the year nomination process.  Our Building Leadership Team and Educator of the Year committee have made the difficult choice of deciding the winners.  The unveiling and celebrations will happen according to the below schedule:

  • Public nomination process — Feb. 1-28
  • School Teacher Para Educator of the Year selection — March 10.
  • Deliveries of Teacher of the Year celebration packets — March 23-24
  • School celebrations, announcements of Teacher and Para-Educator of the Year — March 27-31
  • Para Educator Appreciation Event, Special Education May 10th

We will post the winners the week of March 27-31.

Principal's Message, January

Posted in Principal's Message

January is coming to a close and hopefully Spring is upon us soon.  Reminder to all families that we will be having our Parent Teacher Conferences the nights of the 15th and 16th of February.  The evenings will focus on your students successes at Jordan Valley.  Your classroom teacher will contact you directly to set up a time on one of those two nights.

We have a new Music Therapist at Jordan Valley as of January 17th.  Her name is Sarah Mortensen.  She is already a very important addition to Jordan Valley.  Come by Jordan Valley and introduce yourself to her.  Because Sarah is starting her new position so late in the year, we will not be having our usual Spring Musical Production at Jordan Valley.  Next school year the production will return.

Thank you families for all you do for your students.

Winter is among us.  Please make sure your students are getting on the bus with the proper warm clothing.  I would like to thank all that participated in our Winter Dance on December 8th.  We had a lot of our 16-22 year students participate as well as our past alumni. We have had the same amazing band play for us for the last 32 years.  "Family and Friends" really know how to keep rocken!!

We would like to wish everyone a wonderful winter break.  The last day of school before winter break will be December 21st.  School will resume on January 3rd.

Be safe and have a wonderful Holiday Season!!

November Principal's Message

I hope all of our families our enjoying the lovely Fall weather.

Thank you everyone for your support during our Halloween Parade. We were fortunate enough to also have the Canyons Superintendent Dr. Jim Briscoe join us for the parade and be one of the judges for the post parade festivities.

At schools in the Canyons School District one way student progress is monitored throughout the year is through report cards.  This is done three times a year.  At Jordan Valley we do the same progress monitoring in the form of a Progress Summary Report. These Reports are done three times a year.  They are a way of reporting to families current progress their student is making toward their IEP goals.  We report out to families in the Fall, Winter, and Spring just like other schools.  A difference is that parents/guardians will recieve one of the three Progress Reports at the beginning of the yearly IEP meeting. That way current progress can be reported on the current goals right before the new goals on the IEP are addressed.

As a reminder, as the weather is getting colder please dress your students appropriately.
