Parents/Guardians/Group Homes,

The school year is moving along rapidly.  After the success of our Back to School Night September 1st we are now approaching our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences.

We will be holding Parent Teacher Conferences next Wednesday and Thursday the 7th and 8th of October from 4:15-8:15.  Your classroom teacher will personally call you to set up a ½ hour block of time to meet on either day.

Parent Teacher Conferences are a time to celebrate specifics of what your student is working on in the classroom.  Curriculum in Math, Science, and English Language Arts will be discussed as well as the Functional Life skills your student is working on.

Our PTA will be having a meet and greet both nights with snacks in the Faculty Room area of Jordan Valley.  This is time for parents/guardians to meet each other and socialize.

We look forward to seeing you on the 7th or 8th of October.

Also as a reminder we will not be having school October 2nd, October 9th, and October 15th and 16th.

Sincerely,

Mark Donnelly
Principal

We are down to the last three months of school. Even though the topic of this message is happening in April, now is the time to put it on your calendar. April 2nd and 3rd (Thursday and Friday) we will be putting on this years play production. This event will be open to the public at 10:30am on both days.

Our recent productions have included Beauty and the Beast, High School Musical, Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid. This year the musical production is my all time favorite and I know most lines already since both my daughters loved watching it. This year we are proud to put on MULAN.

Each year every student in the building participates in the play. It is amazing to see how the students grow into their roles over 4-6 weeks of practice sessions. Our Music Teacher Caitlin Barney and all our staff needs to be commended for all their efforts in making this happen.

See you at the Play!

Mark Donnelly Principal, Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY SCHOOL

School Community Council Candidate Form

Serving on the School Community Council

Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic and functional skills performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used.  This year our school received about $5,900 from the School LAND Trust Program. The council reviews and prepares other academic/life skills plans for our students each year.  All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.

Qualifications

Every public school in Utah has School Community Council.  The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by employees and parents who are elected by parents of students attending the school.  Membership terms are for two years.  Elections are held at the beginning of each school year.

Parent/guardians members must have a student attending the school at least one of the two years of their term of service.  Employees must be employed by the school district at the school.
