Meeting called to order
Council members:

Bryce Edwards, Employee Stacey Nofsinger, Principal Zach Allred, Instructional Coach
Business Items:
- TSSP & Land Trust/Beginning of Year Literacy Project data
- Shared beginning of year data for students 1st-12th grades
- Will continue to look and identify areas on literacy project that need more focus and determine what will be most beneficial for Land Trust and TSSP funds
- Safety Plan
- Possibility of having available staff act as crossing guards at the crosswalks to meeting points
- Need to check on whether the emergency supply bins have been updated (Jana & Kelli are willing to help with this project)
- Staff continue to prop doors open with rocks – extremely unsafe
- Really like the alarms added to classroom exterior doors because it alerts staff if a student is quietly slipping out unnoticed
- Digital Citizenship
- Continue teaching students how to be safe when using their devices
- Continue teaching students how to treat device appropriately and take responsibility for communication devices
- Working on removing unnecessary apps
- Staff Shortages
- 11 para positions, 1 Speech, 1 PT assistant, 4 Registered Behavior Techs (RBT)
- District continues to send 6 employees to support in classrooms when subs are not obtained
- Interviewed multiple people this week – planning to offer positions to 5 (para)
- Peer Tutor options for the future
- Hillcrest Peer Leadership Team has started coming twice a week to volunteer in classrooms for an hour.
- Stacey will connect with Diamond Ridge Principal and pick up discussions from just before COVID about offering a peer tutor elective for students to come to JVS
- Stacey will also connect with RSD to see if an elective course can be created for future high school students at all high schools.
Other Input/Questions
- Cell Tower funds were voted in October to be placed in principal’s discretionary fund. The total amount was $336.11
- District media specialist, Gretchen, is working with Stacey on improving book selection in library. Parents are encouraged to send favorite themes to help guide what types of books to purchase.
